This position is only available to current UCI employees.Within a team environment, provide effective management and leadership for our Human Research Protections team currently focused on clinical/biomedical minimal risk research conducted by UCI investigators. Manage the recruitment, hiring, orientation and professional development of the team (2 FTEs); including day-to-day supervision, setting team goals and objectives, implementing team-building strategies, employing outcome measures to evaluate goal attainment, and coordinating work assignments. Independently analyze and review applications and corresponding documentation from investigators for IRB review: initial and continuing submissions, and other protocol related documentation. Apply federal regulations, state statutes, and/or UC/UCI HRP policies and procedures to research protocols submitted to the IRB for full committee and/or subcommittee review, and approval. As applicable, consider the unique regulatory issues and concerns regarding the involvement of vulnerable populations in research. Provide consultative and training services to researchers and research staff to facilitate IRB review and the protection of human subjects.
