The Bear Valley Community Services District is currently recruiting for the position of Finance Director.
The Finance Director is a supervisory position, receiving direction from the General Manager and is responsible to plan, organize, direct and supervise District accounting, auditing, accounts payable/receivable, cash collection, general ledger, payroll, purchasing, utility billing and financial reporting; will assist in the planning, development, and control of the District budget; assist the organization to improve business and financial practices and seek out ways to maximize assets, minimize costs and augment revenues.
This will be a very active and challenging position with many opportunities to identify areas of improvement, implement best management practices and mentor a hardworking and eager staff.
The Finance Director will oversee the Finance Division of the Administration Department and must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, provide ethical leadership, and demonstrate a willingness to roll up their sleeves and get hands-on with Division operations.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, economics, finance, business or public administration. A Master’s Degree and/or CPA is preferred but not required.
Minimum qualifications include five (5) or more years of increasingly responsible experience in local government or other public sector accounting and finance with at least one (1) year supervisory experience in the public sector. Private sector experience may supplement but not substitute government experience.
