Job Posting: The Physician Billing Coordinator III performs all duties related to registration and the gathering of insurance and eligibility information. Charge Capture: Completes all charge tickets and turns into PBS on a timely basis. Ensures that all required information is attached to every charge ticket. Appropriately batches all charge tickets. Evaluates accounts to determine any write-offs or corrections required, including duplicate charges. Insurance Verification/Eligibility: Verifies all insurance according to defined parameters. Ensures that appropriate documentation has been received prior to patient's appointment date. Appropriately communicates with patient to determine financial status. Discusses options with patient if insurance eligibility is not confirmed prior to appointment date. Financial Counseling: Follows policies and procedures in looking for third party sponsorship. Enters complete and appropriate documentation in IDX notes. Follows all applicable rules and policies, such as the discount policy and Medi-Cal and charity applications. Registration/Pre-Registration: Registers accounts timely and accurately. Ensures that registration occurs prior to patient encounter. Ensures that all information is complete, and required fields entered. On-Site Balance Collection: Reviews patient's account to understand current financial status and balance. Communicates appropriately and professionally to patients. Receives monies owed from patient. Reconciles cash receipts to cash log. Other: Meets existing productivity goals. Elevates issues, as appropriate, to the Supervisor. Participates in the development of unit policies and procedures. Handles in a professional and confidential manner all correspondence, documentation, and files. Supports CSMNS core values, policies, and procedures. Communication: Meets weekly with Supervisor. Works with other PBCs and front office staff to resolve specific issues impacting unit and develop resolution plans. Answers telephones, patient inquiries, and responds appropriately and timely to written correspondence. Works with invasive (surgical) clinics: extensive knowledge of surgical procedures and coding; understanding of pre and post op reports, and other documentation related to surgical procedures; 3 years experience in a surgical office setting
Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities High School Diploma required; Bachelor Degree from an accredited College or University preferred. CPC Certification required At least two (2) years Oncology experience in insurance verification/eligibility. Knowledge of procedures and data flow in a health care organization; experience with physician billing preferred. Understanding of computer systems, as well as knowledge of computer programs such as Word and Excel; understanding of IDX preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
