The Innovative Technology Solutions team is a newly formed team within Global Health with a focus on investing in disruptive technology capabilities that offer new options for global health.
Position Summary & Responsibilities
The Innovative Technology Solutions team is looking for an experienced professional to provide support for the sourcing, development and administration of investments and to implement and coordinate work in support of senior program staff. This includes research, analysis, and synthesis of data for global health challenges that could be solved by the creation of new technical capabilities with the potential to greatly accelerate or even replace current strategies.
The ITS program officers work across a diverse set of disciplines, bridging a wide range of expertise. This specific role will focus on topics related with biophysics and devices.
Key areas of work include but are not limited to:
Develop and guide investments in one or more of the following areas:
Biophysics and biochemistry
Healthcare technologies to measure health data and / or guide medical intervention
Efficient and effective sourcing of new technology trends that are amenable to direction and cultivation into new technology capabilities for global health:
Identify diverse collaborators, synthesize ideas and develop milestone-driven investments that lead to new global health capabilities,
Provide rigorous reviews of Global Health programs that incorporate contributions from both internal and external stakeholders and facilitate mid-course corrections on projects when necessary,
Contribute to the integration of strategies and implementation plans across ITS and other foundation teams.
Develop clear investment exit strategies that integrate end goal accomplishments into GH program strategy teams or delivery partnerships.
Develop investments with clear, measurable outcomes and milestones.
Actively develop a portfolio of investments and the underlying relationships with grantees, vendors, and partners.
Identify and cultivate partners in support of program work; develop partnerships to achieve impact.
Attend meetings, both internal and external, to represent ITS as well as act as a foundation representative.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of three-five years of work experience with a PhD or ScD in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field.
Additionally, you should have:
Project, program, or product management experience
Ability to contribute to data-driven strategy planning and implementation.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated excellence in scientific writing and data analysis.
An ability to exert influence and direct experience in a role requiring collaboration with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
A thorough understanding of the realities and complexities of effectively managing projects within a matrixed environment.
Ability to work with flexibility, efficiency, enthusiasm and sensitivity in an exciting work environment, across barriers such as language, culture and distance, for the effective implementation of work streams that require internal and external engagement across multiple teams.
A self-starter with intellectual curiosity, discipline, resourcefulness and resilience.
Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.
A sense of humor.
