Serves as the Payment Services Analyst Supervisor within Disbursements & Travel ---a unit of Integrated Procure-to-Pay Solutions (IPPS) housed within Business and Financial Services (BFS). Responsible for all aspects related to human subject compensation including: Analyzing and tracking payment trends, reconciling project balances, creating campus communications, developing training and marketing materials, and performing department visits. Incumbent has decision-making authority and provides final approval for human subject payment requests. Interprets UC policy, analyzes complex data, performs account and study reconciliations and ensures compliance with accounting policies, regulations and banking procedures.
Develops communications via facilitated discussion. Defines, analyzes and documents business requirements related to research studies. Streamlines payment methods and implements innovative payment initiatives that benefit the University and research participants by enhancing product features. Reduces and terminates outdated payment methods and works to foster relationships within the research community. Incumbent will serve as the Payment liaison for UC San Diego's Internal Review Board (IRB) and work with the office for Human Research Participant Protections (HRPP) on ways to mitigate risk associated with research participant payments.
Supervises a team of career employees and a student employee responsible for banking services functions supporting the university. Responsible for improving and streamlining the processes related to payments, and performing high-level research on the most complex issues.
Graduation from college with a major in business administration or an allied field, and four (4) years of experience in an operations role with similar functions relating to payment administration, banking services industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Power Point and Excel.
Demonstrated skills to provide coaching and mentoring to support staff.
Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
Experience administering the daily operations of various revenue generating payment programs by: analyzing processes and trends, recommending areas for improvement, tracking spend and comparing against set goals, and monitoring client satisfaction.
Strong public speaking skills with the ease to communicate to a diverse audience. Proven strong writing skills for report writing
Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Platforms (i.e., Salesforce).
Experience in personnel management/supervision and organizational administration including performance management and goal setting.
