Science Communication Program: Lecturer Pool (Ongoing)

The Science Communication Program at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an on-going pool of qualified part-time temporary lecturers in science journalism to teach various graduate-level courses. Course topics include science newswriting and editing, feature writing, profile and essay writing, multimedia storytelling, and investigative and policy reporting. We seek applications from practicing journalists and science writers with experience to teach graduate students in the art and craft of science writing at a national, professional level.
SALARY: $7,500 - $8,500 per five-unit course, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in science, English, journalism, or closely related field. Published work in professional science journalism or public outreach.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in science, journalism or graduate training in science writing. Teaching experience in science writing demonstrated by college-level courses or visiting appointments.
POSITION AVAILABLE: As openings occur, appointments contingent upon availability of funding.
