Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has an opening for a Clinical Documentation Manager Specialist in the Health Information Department. Under general direction of the HIP CDMP Manager, responsible for improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation. Facilitates modifications to clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers, and medical records coding staff to support clinical documentation representative of the severity of illness and to support the level of service rendered to all patients as assigned. Facilitates clarity of clinical information used for measuring and reporting physician and medical center outcomes which incorporates current DRG methodologies (e.g. MS-DRGs) by CMS and/or other regulating/quality reporting bodies (e.g. APR-DRGs). The Registered Nurse will need to perform donor phlebotomy (whole blood and apheresis), donor health history and physical assessment, address donor reactions and complaints, act as charge nurse both in-house and on mobiles and demonstrate great customer service skills and knowledge of regulatory requirements. Note: All External Hires must successfully pass a background check, a prohibited substance screening, and a pre-employment physical.
OPTION 1 - Advanced health care service degree - bachelors preferred - with ADCIS certification or 3 plus years of CDI experience
OPTION 2 - Registered nurse, or clinical background/licensed clinician RN, OT, PT, PA, LVN, foreign trained MD, or clinically trained professional. Bachelor's degree preferred. License must be maintained through continuing education. License/Certification/Registration Requirements: Licenses - Current RN license in the State of California or higher clinical level degree (ie MD, PA, AHP) Certification Experience:
A high level of clinical skills required to participate collaboratively with all members of the care team.
Intermediate to advanced computer skills required.
Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in an acute care/hospital experience, or 3 years of experience in utilization review, coding, or case management experience preferred.
Strong critical thinking skills and exceptional ability to integrate knowledge.
Strong broad-based clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology/physiology of diseased processes. Physical Demands:
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time in conjunction with unit assignments (more than 65% of the scheduled work shift).
Ability to walk for extended periods of time (from 35%-65% of the scheduled work shift).
Bending or reaching with arms (less than 35% of the scheduled work shift).
Lifts, carries, moves and pushes equipment (laptop computer, rolling bag, and paperwork) and materials related to assigned work demanding ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
