Stanfords Department Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER) supports the nearly 900 student-athletes who compete on the 36 intercollegiate athletic teams sponsored by the university. It also supports the campus physical education, recreation and wellness initiatives. Currently, the Athletics Department is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Director, Digital Strategy & Operations.
Reporting to the Director, Digital Strategy & Operations, this position will enhance the digital strategy that serves all 36 varsity sports at Stanford. The successful applicant will have experience with HTML and CSS, graphic design and social media. This role will work closely with various groups in external relations, including but not limited to, communications, marketing, video, sponsorship and ticket sales. This is a full-time, exempt position.
Summary of essential job functions: Utilize Photoshop, After Effects, Dreamweaver and Illustrator to create assets to be used across multiple digital channels Synthesize content from 36 varsity sports to distribute on the main athletics Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts Assist the communications, marketing and ticket sales staff with HTML/CSS requests on GoStanford.com Put processes and resources in place to help all members of DAPER perform at a high level across all digital platforms as a member of the Stanford Athletics Digital Strategy Committee Serve as a contact for Stanford Athletics web host vendor/rights-holder Contribute to the ideation and construction of in-house microsites Stay up-to-date on industry trends and ensure that Stanford remains at the forefront of the digital media landscape Serve as the primary sport contact for beach volleyball, mens and womens rowing, and lightweight rowing Other duties as assigned
A bachelors degree in journalism, communications, information/computer technologies or related field At least two years of experience in web design, graphic design or a related field Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite software Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including research, fact-checking and editing Ability to multitask and oversee multiple projects with multiple stakeholders at one time Extremely organized and detail-oriented Ability to work nights and weekends
Preferred Qualifications: 3-5 years of work experience in a related field Web development and strategy experience Graphic design experience Passion for and strong desire to work in college athletics Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*: Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, sit, use a telephone and stand/walk. Occasionally climb stairs, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 20 pounds. Occasionally kneel/crawl, reach/work above shoulders and grasp forcefully.
