Which is why your performance and innovation will find a reception here like nowhere else as you help people live healthier lives while doing your life's best work.(sm) This position resides in UHG Corporate Accounting (financials systems and data management) will require project related work including working with Corporate Systems (Optum Tech) and the Finance user community, to be sure the needs and requirements for the various finance projects are accurately developed, managed, tested and implemented and the communications between the teams is managed effectively. Though no direct staff oversight is involved, being able to work collaboratively within a matrix environment to achieve the various initiatives of the finance community will be critical.Primary Responsibilities:-Daily support of the PeopleSoft Financials application for the Finance user community including troubleshooting user issues, CFA administration, Combo Edit maintenance, monitoring FILMS feeds and supporting system issues during critical month-end close cycles -Understand the UHG financial process and system tools (PeopleSoft, Hyperion, nVision); become an active participant in process improvements for finance and accounting systems -Collaborate with finance user community to understand and demonstrate complex concepts in ways that lead to understanding by a variety of audiences -Evaluate financial processes for possible process improvement, which may include better use of existing technology or just a better way to execute the process -Develop and /or automate financial reports with existing tools -Drive maximization of existing tools for efficiency and if needed, evaluate and recommend other technology tools as appropriate -Serve as a liaison for finance user community with technology groups (Optum Tech PeopleSoft and Hyperion teams, etc.) -May prepare and deliver presentations to management -Support GL simplification and standardization projects. This position may also have the following responsibilities:- Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports.- Perform account reconciliations and analyses, prepares journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles.- Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position.- Involvement in the monthly/quarterly 'close' process.- Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits.- Review the work of others.- Develop innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectiveness.
Required Qualifications:-Bachelor degree in Accounting or equivalent field -3+ years of progressive professional experience in finance and/or accounting-Intermediate MS Excel - Intermediate knowledge of financial systems (PeopleSoft or other ERP and related reporting tools: Essbase/Smart View/Hyperion, nVision,) -Reporting Tools Experience (Essbase/Smart View/Hyperion, nVision preferred)-Strong communication skillsPreferred experience: -Previous project or project management experience-Process improvement-PeopleSoft -Essbase/Smart View-CPA Already Fortune 6, we are totally focused on innovation and change.
